A night and a day
|I’m not looking forward to tonight but I am looking forward to tomorrow.
I darted out for a bowl of soup… Grendel’s makes the BEST soups and tonight’s was black bean and chorizo. When I returned to the rental house to shower and settle in for the evening, I immediately heard it: the death chirp of the smoke detector. It hasn’t done this the entire time I’ve lived here, but now, every 30 seconds, “CHIRP!!!” Now, when I have no ladder to reach it. Now when I can tell you all my spare batteries are on the kitchen counter at the new house. SIGH. Gonna be a LOOOOONG night.
But tomorrow I’ll be singing at church, something I really love, then dropping off a massive pile of cardboard at the recycle center next door to church, then hurrying to the house where Troy and I will be putting on the doors. HURRAY!!! If it’s as clear a day as the forecasters have been bragging about, he might dig into the rotten studs in the bathroom too. Then it’s off to friends for a “soup party.” Besides the loans of bigger vehicles than my own, these diversion breaks midst the work are some of the most wonderful things friends are offering me. And, wonderfully, the soup party is about 1/10 mile from the house, so I can relax awhile, but then get right back to work.
I’M JUST SO EXCITED!! MY HOUSE WILL HAVE DOORS!!!
Yes, I appreciate the little things. 🙂
