Oh! Pardon my rudeness!!

Well here we are in mid April and the progress of the last two days has been nothing short of amazing (and relieving.) The dirt molehill grew to be a mountain, and then the trucks came and moved the mountain. We went from chunky piles of broken up concrete to a scraped, dug footer and foundation with forms in place. Those should be inspected today and the foundation poured tomorrow. It’s an exciting time, but now I realize I haven’t posted a picture of what it is that’s going on here. Deepest apologies to my bewildered friends who can’t imagine such a hub-bub over what they might suppose to be the addition of just a garage.

The house addition: bedroom suite, utility room, garage and shop.

I’ve removed a bunch of the numbers from the picture above that the permit people and builders need to obsess over so your view isn’t too cluttered.  And, there’s really no particular reason why the floor of the utility room is orange.

If you see the little doorway to the left, that connects to the end of the kitchen inside. Once you enter this addition from the kitchen you can veer to the left to enter the new master bedroom suite, or veer to the right to enter the utility room and garage access. Given the road out front is pretty busy, the utility room will make a nice sound buffer for the bedroom. I guarantee there will be a long, dirt-collecting rug in the utility room too.

I hope that clarifies what I’ve actually been working on here.
When it’s all done this summer you’re invited over for a tour, some party food and who knows, maybe a movie in the backyard.
