Two steps forward, one step back

First, let me say, I believe the IRS ought to credit any individual with the amount of time sucked away from one’s life to complete their taxes.   My taxes are now 95% complete. The remaining 5% comes courtesy of one blank left incomplete on the year-end statement from Schwab. Grumble, grumble, grumble.

This day was so long it has blurred over into the next day! It almost was longer, but a last-minute change in moving plans will afford me a few precious hours of sleep tonight. The revised moving plan has First Choice movers carting this ridiculously heavy furniture to the storage unit and the house on Sunday afternoon instead of friends moving it six hours from now. This spares me loosing more work time, allows me to finish up the presentation I will give on Friday, and drive over to Bend, Oregon during daylight hours. It also prevents any of my friends injuring themselves in the process. I feel much better about that situation now.

I really am blessed with some good people around me. Whether it’s the local inspector pleasantly willing to guide me in what I need to correct on my plans, Karen spearheading Operation Yellow-Livingroom-Must-Go, my landlady Penny being flexible on my last day in the rental, Gene trying to figure out anyway he can help me, cracking up with Bertony trying to move the un-grabbable futon mattress, Jarrod helping me figure out the house door situation, my new neighbor Dorothy coming over to help me unload the new front door from Karen’s station wagon, or Wendy helping paint the bedroom, it’s been hard to really express how wonderful it is to have their help. In the end I’ll be able to look around the house and see reminders everywhere of these great friends.
