Signs of Progress

Hopefully yesterday concluded the hassles with Home Depot online. The final fuss revolved around how theywould return the price of the second door. I bought the first door with gift cards as I didn’t have cash for that little side project. But, when they had to charge me for a replacement door, it had to go on my credit card–no cash and no more gift cards. It was the credit card charge for the second door I needed refunded. BUT, according to Home Depot, it was the FIRST door that was returned, not the SECOND so they could not refund it all to my credit card– it would have to be returned as a gift card. I explained how I doubted my electric utility bill could be paid with their gift card. It took an hour but they finally got someone on the phone who could override the system and refund the door to my credit card.Ah, but yesterday Troy came over and we installed the door. After that I installed the door hardware and stuffed the openings with insulation. Now I can enjoy the reason for the fuss. In the days to come will be the magnetic curtain rod for privacy, but already I can look out to the back and imagine once the gardens are in place what a beautiful sight that will be.
Today the plan is to size up the ductless heat pump installation and start tackling that. Troy expects to get his hands on a jack hammer for the concrete to come up and dive into that. Meanwhile, negotiations are happening to borrow a trailer so I can load out the waste wood and ship it off to the dump.
