Breathe in….breathe out….
|So on Friday my two sets of French doors were to be delivered to the house. Nope. They were not. I called and just missed the company’s 5 p.m. mass exodus and left a voice mail. They are open Saturdays so I hoped to hear and maybe have them delivered Saturday. No, that didn’t happen either.
Saturday Troy would be over to finish the roof and discuss where I planned to run my plumbing. He didn’t arrive until 7 p.m. to do a little work. He got some of the roof done and didn’t discuss plumbing except for my location for the washer and dryer. We decided it worked best if I planned to stack the washer and dryer so I needed to go buy a stack kit from Sears.
Sunday I went to Sears for the stack kit. I shared the painful update that I still could not take delivery yet to which they responded that THEY HAD ALREADY DELIVERED THEM!! I smiled, reminded them of a few mental cues that got them to remember, you’re right, we didn’t deliver them yet. I bought the stacking kit and told them I’d give them a couple weeks notice on the units so if they needed to go acquire a replacement set (I didn’t want to hear about it), they had ample time to cover their tracks. On Sunday Troy worked at the house again a few morning hours–still didn’t finish the roof.
Today I got a phone message from Sears and called them back. They say someone in the warehouse “damaged” my washer and dryer so they are bringing in the current year’s version of the same model number. I asked and no, the stack kit I bought won’t fit it. They say the stack kit will have to be special ordered. I say it better be for the exact same price.
I stopped by the house to go over with Troy that we are entering the final 35 days of the construction… after that the bank can call in my mortgage if construction is not complete. Troy thought we had until the end of August. I showed him the contract but reminded him he’d said we’d easily be done by the end of May…then the end of June…. we’re up to the wall now. No flexibility.
Then off to PARR– where are my doors? Turns out they arrived at some PARR dispatch warehouse or something mid-last week and though they knew these were ordered by the Forest Grove store, they didn’t know what to do with them… so they sat on them. I guess they figured someone would yell instructions at them sometime. Tony at the Forest Grove PARR did just that. They are painfully aware they were to be at the job site last Friday and they are under orders to get them there today. (As bad as that is, think how much worse the door story was with Home Depot!)
After that Troy called back to quiz me on when I moved in the house….he was sure he’s not getting a full six months though he told me he’d have it built easily in 2-3 months.
Breathe in…
Breathe out…
Stop clenching teeth
It would appear my patience is coming back to bite me.
